ATHLETIC OPPORTUNITIES WITH OUR STEM PARTNER CSAS:

Baseball (boys) – STEM students will have the opportunity to participate at CSAS (Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences). Interested students should provide their name to the STEM School counselor. Students must have a current year physical on file with the CSAS athletic department prior to participation.

Basketball (boys and girls) – STEM students will have the opportunity to participate at CSAS (Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences). Interested students should provide their name to the STEM School counselor. Students must have a current year physical on file with the CSAS athletic department prior to participation.

Cross Country (boys and girls) – STEM students will have the opportunity to participate at CSAS (Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences). Interested students should provide their name to the STEM School counselor. Students must have a current year physical on file with the CSAS athletic department prior to participation.

Golf (boys and girls) – STEM students will have the opportunity to participate at CSAS (Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences). Interested students should provide their name to the STEM School counselor. Students must have a current year physical on file with the CSAS athletic department prior to participation.

Soccer (boys and girls) – STEM students will have the opportunity to participate at CSAS (Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences). Volleyball (girls) – STEM students will have the opportunity to participate at CSAS (Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences). HCS Athletic Event Entry Protocols

HCS Athletic Event Entry Protocols:

  • All patrons and bags are subject to search.
  • No firearms, weapons, fireworks, or explosives.
  • No alcohol, tobacco, vaping products, or illegal substances.
  • Clear bags only.
    • Exceptions: small clutch purse (4.5” X 6.5”) or medically necessary bags
  • No outside food or drinks.
  • No unaccompanied minors without approved adult supervision.
  • No loitering in walkways, concourses, parking lots, or other areas in and around the school campus.
  • Service animals only are permitted
  • No re-entry permitted.

HCS Athletic Events Code of Conduct

HCS Athletic Events Code of Conduct:

To ensure a safe, orderly, and respectful environment for all participants, officials, and spectators, individuals attending school athletic events are expected to:

  • Demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times.
  • Model appropriate behavior for student-athletes and younger spectators.
  • No taunting, ridiculing, or intimidating opponents, officials, or other spectators.
  • Refrain from the use of profanity, vulgar language, obscene gestures, or disruptive behavior.
  • Respect the decisions of game officials.
  • Follow all facility rules, security procedures, and directions from school staff and event personnel.
  • Spectators are not allowed on playing surfaces at any time.
  • Keep aisles, walkways, and emergency exits clear at all times.
  • Do not possess or use alcohol, tobacco products, vaping devices, illegal drugs, or other prohibited substances on school property.

*Failure to follow this Code of Conduct may result in removal from the event and/or restriction from attending future school-sponsored activities.

Clubs

The purpose of clubs, athletics, and extra-curricular organizations at STEM School Chattanooga is to promote student participation in STEM as well as provide leadership/collaborative opportunities. Below is a listing of different opportunities for students. These activities are subject to change and expand from year to year. Students interested in any of the clubs should see the club representative.

4K Microscopy

This club is for any student that hasan interest in the microscopic world. We will be holding monthly Open Mic Sessions during lunch. These sessions will be run by the senior members of the 4K Microscopy class. The Grad Assistants will use the 4K microscope to capture 4K-high definition images of preserved and freshly made slides. So, if you would like to see things at the micro level and learn how to use our state-of-the-art microscope, come join us. Interested students should see Mrs. Seigle for more information. Club meetings are twice a month on Tuesdays during Phase I lunch in Mrs. Seigle’s classroom/biology lab.

Art Club

The art club at STEM School Chattanooga is a student-run organization that aims to provide an avenue for students to exchange creative ideas, create imaginative artworks, and collaborate with other students and community members to promote and support the arts. Additional enrichment opportunities such as technique workshops and opportunities to display artwork will be provided. The students will develop character, intellectual skills, and work ethic by participating in creative fundraising events as part of our community service projects. See Ms. Price-Gray for more information.  Club meetings weekly on Friday during Phase I lunch in Room 114.

Bible Study Club

The Bible Study Club is open to anyone and everyone who would like to fellowship with fellow students. Not a Christian? Not a problem! Come on down and see what’s going on during our meetings. This club consists of student-led discussions based on Bible passages and/or prompts! See Ms. Wyatt for more information. Club meetings weekly on Tuesday during Phase I lunch.

Board Game Club

Bring your favorite board games and let’s play! Great time to chill, play some games and have fun. Contact Ms. Stanley or Ms. Nixon for more information. Club meetings weekly on Wednesdays in the HUB at noon.

Book Club

Love reading? Want to share and discover new stories? Explore books across genres and have fun discussions with no tests or essays! Contact Mrs. Tumey for more information. Club meetings are twice a month on Thursdays during Phase I lunch in Mrs. Tumey’s office. 

Chess Club

This club is open to any and all chess players, regardless of your skill level. We will meet once a week to hone our skills as we compete against players of similar skill. You may even get a chance to compete against Mr. Beary! Club meetings will be weekly on Wednesdays from 4:30pm – 5:30pm in Mr. Beary’s classroom.

Climbing Team

This is a club for students who enjoy competitive or recreational climbing. Practice will be each Tuesday and Thursday after school at one of the Highpoint locations. The cost requires a gym membership, but some scholarships are available through Highpoint. Interested students can contact the faculty representatives, Mrs. Peoples or Mr. McCoy for more information.

Culinary Club

The Culinary Club will exchange recipes and techniques. Students will learn kitchen skills and social skills while enjoying delicious food. Occasionally, we will host bake sales throughout the year. The profits will be used to purchase ingredients. Interested students may contact Mr. Kubisak for more information.  Club meetings will be twice a month but day of the week and location is still TBD. 

Diversity Committee

The Diversity and Culture Committee helps to spread awareness and celebrate the vast variety of cultures represented by the STEM School Chattanooga students, staff, and community. Interested students should contact Ms. Wyatt or Mr. David. 

Dungeons and Dragons

This is a club for all things Dungeons and Dragons, a game where you can be anything, do anything, anywhere. Club meets in the Commons every Friday from 4:30pm-6:30pm. The faculty sponsor is Ms. Britt.

Electric Car Team

The Electric Car Club (ECC) is dedicated to inspiring students in STEM through electric vehicle racing. Members design, build, and race single-seat electric cars, learning about aerodynamics, electrical systems, and mechanical engineering. We compete in regional and national Greenpower USA F24 races, aiming to complete the most laps within a set time. Our club emphasizes STEM education with workshops, mentorship, and resources, fostering a supportive environment for exploring engineering and technology. We engage with the community through outreach programs and partnerships, inspiring future engineers and innovators.Join us for hands-on experience, teamwork, and the thrill of racing. Build a foundation for a STEM career with mentorship and networking opportunities. Be part of a movement driving the future of electric vehicle technology! Interested students can contact Mr. Islam. Club meetings are weekly on Tuesday from 4:30 – TBD in Room 110 (ECC). 

Fishing Club

Phase 1 students: This club will meet on the first Friday morning of every month at the river dam from 8:30-9:15 We will walk back to STEM together at 9:15. All students will need to bring their own pole and have the permission slip signed by their parents. Phase 2 students: “Fishing Friday” meet-ups will occur throughout the day, every Friday, during your free time. Club sponsor is Mr. Beary if more information is needed. 

GCDI DigFab Club

This club is for any student who wants extra time to make projects in the GCDI. Club members will also be responsible to planning and leading workshops once a Semester for STEM students and families. See Mrs. Burrus for more information.  Club meetings are weekly on Tuesdays from 4:30pm to 6:30pm in the GCDI. 

GSA Club

The GSA Club is an all-inclusive club who’s goal is acceptance and kindness for all people. Club sponsor is Mr. Kubisak and club meetings are weekly on Wednesdays during Phase I lunch in Mr. Kubisak’s classroom. 

Heads of House Committee

The House Committee is made up of head students for each of the four STEM houses – Staupers (guardians), Tesla (rationalists), Einstein (idealists), and Mirzakhani (artisans). Students can apply for house positions in their sophomore and junior years to be members during their junior or senior years. The House Committee designs and coordinates activities throughout the year including house competitions, spirit week, STEM Jam, donation drives, and other student-initiated activities. The faculty lead representatives are Ms. Kirby and Ms. Wyatt for more information.

Media Production Club

Dive into Adobe Creative Cloud tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and After Effects. Whether you’re interested in graphic design, video editing, or photography, this club offers hands-on projects that help you master professional-grade software. Contact the club sponsor Mrs. Wineland for more information. 

Mu Alpha Theta (Mathletes)

Mu Alpha Theta is a nationally recognized honor society for achievement in mathematics. This is a club for students who are interested in learning more about interesting math topics not usually covered in class. We’ll also be practicing for and participating in local and national math competitions throughout the year. Membership in this club is by application only. Club sponsors are Mrs. Jaynes and Ms. Gibbons for more information. 

Multicultural Club

The Multicultural Club hosts the “Multicultural Cafe”, which is a quarterly meeting where we discuss cultural art while eating delicious cultural foods. Each Cafe has a designated cultural theme and artistic genre. We vote on the theme and base our menu off the interests in the group. Club sponsors are Ms. Phifer and Mr. Hale for more information. 

National Honor Society

The National Honor Society is an elite society composed of the top leaders, academic achievers and pillars of service at STEM School Chattanooga. NHS members strive to improve our school climate, our community and themselves through teamwork, innovation and perseverance. Mrs. Cash is the club sponsor for more information. 

Photography Club

Photography club is both a beginner- and expert-friendly way to expand and further your photography skills. Members will focus on free form projects throughout the year, spanning from competitions to the entire club working together towards a larger more expansive goal. Club members will have a voice in decision-making, including which projects we will take on. Members will also learn about photo editing via the art room computers. Photography club provides a hands-on way to create art and expand your practical skills. The club sponsor is Mr. Karas and club meetings will be weekly on Friday during Phase I lunch in Mrs. Price-Gray’s room. 

Robotics

You can join one of our ten teams to build a robot from scratch, code it to complete the current year’s challenges, and document the engineering design process to earn awards at tournaments. All grades, skill levels, and specializations may join. Please see our Robotics team website for more details. Club sponsors are Mrs. Femal and Mr. Karas.  Club meetings are weekly on Monday from 4:30pm to 6:30pm in the Commons.

Science Olympiad

The Science Olympiad Club is a fun academic competition that allows students of diverse backgrounds to engage in hands-on, team-based science challenges.The Science Olympiad Club will create and showcase innovative content through collaboration and innovation. Interested students can see Mr. Hale for details. Club meetings will be weekly on Wednesday from 8:30am to 9:30am.

STEMbassadors

The STEMbassadors are student tour guides for the school. These students provide tours throughout the year to guests which include educators, higher education faculty and staff, business leaders, national and international guests and prospective students and parents. Interested students should see Mr. David.

STEM Newsletter

The STEM newsletter will be a place to showcase the exciting things happening around school! Everything from sports, competitive clubs, and PBL projects to Heads of House news and house competitions can be included. The club sponsor is Ms. Britt and club meetings will be weekly on Thursday from 4:30pm to 6:30pm in Mrs. Britt’s classroom. 

STEM Pep Squad

STEM Pep Squad is a group of students who help build school spirit and positive energy at school events and activities. They lead cheers, chants, and crowd participation while incorporating dance and cheer to create excitement and unity among students. Pep squads often perform choreographed routines, use signs or props, and represent their school with pride. We are here to bring the school community together and make events more engaging, energetic, and memorable. Club sponsors are Ms. Phifer and Ms. Wyatt and club meetings will be held weekly from 4:30pm to 6:00pm.  Day of the week is still TBD. 

Student Support Senate

The Student Support Senate is comprised of one student representative from each House advisee. The role of the senate is to develop and edit school rules and positively impact school culture. The faculty representative is Mr. David. Meetings are held monthly.

Weather Club

The Weather Club explores different weather systems, how to be weather-safe, and how to read weather radars. The club sponsor is Mrs. Wineland but day and time of weekly meetings is still TBD. 

Yearbook Club

The STEM Yearbook Club works collaboratively to design and create a yearbook for STEM school while providing a lasting memory for the graduating senior class and all STEM students. The faculty representative is Mrs. Bolus and meets weekly on Thursdays from 4:30pm-5:30pm (6:00pm in the spring).  Meetings are held in the Commons.
