3D Designer Advanced

3D Designer Advanced

Description:  This micro-credential denotes a student who has become proficient in understanding more complex 3D designs in digital fabrication. Students may use OnShape, Fusion 360, or other equivalent software to demonstrate proficiency.

Instructions: To earn a micro-credential, take pictures or video of
each criterion to show as evidence of your mastery.  When sending in your evidence be sure to organize your evidence and add captions or descriptors to explain what is happening.  Please do not send in multiple jpegs without organizing them in Slides, Docs, etc.

Criteria: (Images and examples coming soon)

  • Create a sketch of a simple object in the software on at least one plane.
  • Using features, turn that sketch into a 3D part (extrusion, sweep, or revolve, etc)
  • Edit that part using another feature (fillets, chamfers, holes, or shell, etc.)
  • Create a second part and use Transform to move, copy, rotate, or scale it.
  • The parts should interact in some way to form a single design.  (Think - handle on a coffee cup or initials on a stamp.)
  • Optional: Use boolean functions to “cut” your design into 2 easily 3D printed pieces (with very little scaffolding).
  • Export your .STL file for printing
  • Show the final product after successful printing.
